18th relief aid trip

Joensuu – Warsaw – Vinnytsia

We received some large donations and bought a bus from the Hurmos volleyball club. Hurmos was winding down its activities and needed a buyer for their bus. We secured the bus early on. Our volunteers obtained additional funding for the aid trip by driving customers to various private events.

The close cooperation with the Ukrainian Association in Finland and their logistics center continues to thrive. We took the bus to Vantaa and they packed it up and provided the documentation for Polish and Ukrainian customs. The bus was ready and waiting when Hané picked it up on a sunny Monday morning. Another volunteer driver joined the company and drove a donated car to the Ukrainian armed forces. Together they headed to Konse in Pärnu, where a heated sauna awaited them. From Pärnu they made their way to Kaunas for the night and the following day our two-car caravan was already in Warsaw. Two amore volunteers in Warsaw took over the caravan and drove it to the border the next morning. After short formalities on the border they were on to Vinnytsia.

This time the donations went to the municipality of Vinnytsia. The bus stayed with them for school transportation and the humanitarian aid was distributed further. The volunteers were thanked and sent home well-fed.
