Reconstruction of Ukraine

President Zelenskyi asked Finland to help Ukraine with education and pedagogy after the war. As a teacher and training supervisor I thought some help would be available indeed! We have been gathering professionals from multiple disciplines, among which we already have teachers, a rescue planner, nurses, bus and truck drivers, sawmill operators, construction consultants, construction workers, a surveyor and a host of other volunteers. The idea would be to pay Ukrainians for the work. Finns and other volunteers would come for free. In addition we have already contacted Ministry of Foreign Affairs and they were very sympathetic to our project to build a wood school in Ukraine.

Schedule

Preparations will be made during 2022–2023. Constructions work starts in summer 2024 if the war is over. Preliminary work will be done during the winter and in June 2024 we aim to have 100 volunteers on site for about a month. The opening ceremony will take place in autumn 2024.

How to get involved

You can volunteer for the construction project if you are enthusiastic and perhaps have a background in a particular discipline. Contact Hané! The project needs people, supplies and tools. We hope you will get involved in some way!

Hopefully our school will be of inspiration to Ukraine and they'll start building more!
